Unparalleled Vegetarian Food Tasting Session Teaches People to Eat Healthily

Following the "Healthier Me 21-Day Challenge" programme, Tzu Chi Singapore cooperated with a vegetarian restaurant once again to hold an "Unparalleled Vegetarian Food Tasting Session". Not only was there a nutritionist to analyse the nutrition levels of the whole plant-based diet, but also a chef who carefully designed the menu and shared his recipes, encouraging participants to try it on their own to maintain their plant-based diet and healthy eating.

Want to continue maintaining a plant-based diet but don’t know how to cook? What to do?

These simple, delicious and creative dishes were the effort of the chef. The Chef broke down the steps and explained them to the participants to get them started.

Lee Lay Eng, Chef of Kampung Senang: The dish we are cooking today is made with ingredients that are easy to find. I’m sharing this with everyone and hope that everyone can pick it up fast.

Hoo Chee Wei, Chef of Metta Cafe: I have added some fruits to the sauce, so it tastes fresher. Innovation is very important, in my opinion. It makes people look forward to what they will eat tomorrow.

A plant-based diet can prevent the risk of heart disease, lower our bad cholesterol, and also lower our blood pressure.

The "Unparalleled Vegetarian Food Tasting Session" is the second collaboration between Tzu Chi volunteers and vegetarian restaurants after the “Healthier Me 21-Day Challenge” programme.

Lim Yen Yen, Deputy GM of Metta Cafe: We felt that we shouldn't stop after the health challenge. Instead, we must continue to advocate and promote it. So, we decided to continue our partnership through this offline sharing so that more people will realise the benefits of adopting a plant-based diet.

Tang Guiping, Participant: In fact, I used to be very sceptical about vegetarianism, how would it give us sufficient nutrition. I later also asked the nutritionist regarding how to replace animal protein with plant protein. I will make more combinations of vegetarian food for my child at home.

Appreciating the beauty of a plant-based diet lifestyle starts from this step.
