Master Cheng Yen was having a talk with the volunteers.

Someone asked: “What does it mean to "educate children with the wisdom of a Bodhisattva"?”

The Master answers:

It means not imposing a sense of gain and loss on your children. As parents are close to their children by blood and emotional attachment, they easily worry too much and inflict psychological pressure on their children. So much so that the children cannot learn with a peaceful mind and only feel that their parents are nagging them. Parents should teach their children without imposing their expectations and demands and should do so "without asking for anything in return". Not seeking anything in return is a mind of a bodhisattva that can bring joy and positively influence the listener.
