A New Recycling Point in Jurong West

After a year of application process, Jurong West recycling point officially begins its operation on 12 February. 41 residents first delivered their recyclables as a result of volunteers’ encouragement over the last five days prior to the official operation. In addition, 15 residents agreed to sign up and take part in the recycling activities in the following month. Such response was indeed encouraging.

Spreading the Wealth of Love in Cambodia

On an invitation from Cambodian volunteers, Brother David Liu, CEO of Tzu Chi Singapore, gave a second talk on Blissful Life at the Cambodia Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC) in Phnom Penh on 12 February 2012. The talk attracted 500 people and at the end of it, 61 signed up as Tzu Chi members hoping to contribute to the society.

First Recycling Point under NWCDC’s 10-year Eco Plan Up and Running

In October last year, Tzu Chi Singapore was invited by the North West Community Development Council (NWCDC) to participate in its 10-year Eco Plan, part of which was to establish 45 recycling points in the constituency within three years. The first recycling point under the collaboration – also the third Tzu Chi recycling point in the north – was officially launched at Fajar Road on 12 February 2012.

Field Surveys in Post-flood Chroy Changvar, Cambodia

On 11 February, while being in Phnom Penh to support an event, volunteers from Singapore took time to conduct surveys and home visits with the Cambodian volunteers. The team of local volunteers was set up less than a year ago and now has more than 100 members. The Singapore team was glad to join their counterparts in visiting Chroy Changvar commune to understand the villagers’ post-flood situations.

Unification of Ideals at the Chinese New Year Gathering

The volunteers from the Traditional Chinese Medicine division of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Free Clinic came together for a heartwarming gathering on 4 February 2012 to celebrate the start of the new lunar year. 33 personnel came for the joyous gathering and shared their ideals for the new year and participated in cultivating the unity among the group.

Love Transcends Religions and Brings Hope to Haiti

The Congregation of Sisters of Saint Anne and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation have been working together to rebuild three schools in Haiti after the devastating earthquake struck Haiti in 2010. Four representatives from the Congregation of Sisters of Saint Anne from Haiti and Canada travelled to Hualien, Taiwan on 2 February to visit the global headquarters of Tzu Chi Foundation and the Foundation’s founder, Master Cheng Yen.

Our Foundation was invited to hold an educational exhibition on the importance of recycling and conduct a talk on the impact of Global Warming and Greenhouse Effects that is affecting Mother Earth at present.
