Worldly Bodhisattvas in the Making

Some ever say, Tzu Chi is the place that produces worldly bodhisattvas. In the first volunteer training session in 2012, what resolutions did the new volunteers make to advance on the Tzu Chi path? Last month on 18 March, more than 500 trainees underwent a half-day training course to understand better the origin of Tzu Chi’s philanthropy work, its mission as well as its eight footprints. Many have found the strength to take up more responsibilities to meet the needs of society.

Foundation Invited to Environmental Workshop to Promote Active Recycling

Subsequent to the launching of the ‘Recycle @ North West’ programme last October, the North West Community Development Council and the National Environmental Agency hosted the North West 8th Environmental Regional Workshop cum Green Living Awards 2012 Ceremony with the theme ‘Recycle’ to call upon grassroots leaders to set up more recycling points in the constituency. Tzu Chi Singapore was invited to share the Foundation’s environmental concept as well as its experience on recycling work with the workshop participants.

“The Meaning of A Good Life”- Blissful Life Talk by Tzu Chi Taiwanese Entrepreneurs

On 24 February 2012, three successful Taiwanese entrepreneurs who are also veteran Tzu Chi volunteers were invited to Singapore to share the meaning of “good life” and how they integrate charity into their respective businesses. About 1500 local entrepreneurs, members of the public and Tzu Chi volunteers attended the talk.

The Advent of a Medical Welfare Net – Launching of Home Medical & Home Nursing Services

Adopting the concept of a mobile clinic, TIMA Singapore launched its first medical house calls to the elderly community in Redhill on 19 Feb. Through performing regular visits, the medical team hope to follow up and monitor the patients’ health conditions, offering them timely treatment and medication, thereby creating a ‘medical welfare net’ for the needy elderly.

Celebrating CCK Recycling Point’s 1st Anniv. with Health Minister & Residents

A tea session was put up on 18 February 2012 to mark the first anniversary of the Choa Chu Kang Tzu Chi recycling point. Along with several grassroots members, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Health Minister and Member of Parliament for Choa Chu Kang GRC, graced the event which saw Keat Hong Zone '3' RC chairman Mr Chan Huan Kee sharing alongside Tzu Chi volunteers on how to incorporate green habits in our everyday life.

Local Entrepreneurs Leading the Call for Diet Change

In response to Master Cheng Yen’s earnest call for everyone to practice Repentance and Vegetarianism, the Tzu Chi Singapore entrepreneur volunteers have set up a group to promote vegetarianism through businesses. By tapping on the scale of the enterprises, they hope to cultivate the practice of having a vegetarian meal a day among their staff, aiming to accumulate 100 meals within three months.

CEO Gives Sharing at Financial Gathering
