Singing for Peace with ‘Voice of Great Love’

Well-known Israeli vocalist David D’Or vows to spread the melody of compassion and great love by singing worldwide on behalf of Tzu Chi. During his concert tour in May 2010, besides visiting Taiwan and China, David made a trip especially to Singapore for his ‘Voice of Great Love’ Charity Concert in the Esplanade to raise funds for the Tzu Chi Foundation (Singapore Branch)’s charitable causes.

Eco Awareness Talk In Anticipation For New Recycling Point In Toa Payoh

In Feb 2009, a monthly Tzu Chi recycling point was started at the void deck of Blk 78A, Toa Payoh Central. After more than a year of operation, Toa Payoh Zone 2 Residents’ Committee (RC) proposed to Tzu Chi to set up a new recycling point. Through several rounds of discussion, both parties finally came to a conclusion.

Care Recipient Mr Ong Shares Experience with Youngsters

52-year-old Mr Ong was brought up in a “problem” family and became a triad society member at the tender age of 15. He was involved in criminal activities like fighting and drug trafficking, and spent nearly half of his life in prison. Struggling in agony and fear, Mr Ong later came to his senses with some Buddhism teachings he received in prison and the help of Tzu Chi volunteers. Recently, he courageously came forward to share his experiences with a group of youngsters from MCYS.

Admiralty Recycling Point Celebrates 1st Anniversary with Mini ‘Appreciation Exhibit’

Since the recycling point in Admiralty was set up on 12 Apr 2009, it has gathered the involvement from more than 100 dedicated volunteers. The Tzu Chi volunteers had specially set up a mini 'Appreciation Exhibit' at a corner of the recycling point to celebrate its first year anniversary.

Looking into Eco-health - 2010 First Community Eco-Awareness Seminar

Tzu Chi volunteers in the East district organized a seminar on the topic of environmental conservation at Paya Lebar-Kovan CC on 4 Apr. Nearly 150 people attended the talk despite the drizzling rain. The videos and talks, centering around global warming, conservation and vegetarianism, garnered much support from the audience. One even passed a wise remark citing interesting olden-days practices.
