First TIMA Symposium in Sri Lanka

It's been three months since Mahesh scribbled in his notebook.

Originally from Sri Lanka, medical student Budhika Mahesh traveled with a team of TIMA members from Singapore to attend this year's international TIMA convention in Hualien, Taiwan. It was an event that left a deep impression in his heart.

Returning home, Mahesh decided to share his profound experience to help spread Tzu Chi's humanitarian mission among his peers.<--MORE-->

A typhoon in 2006 sparked a friendship between Philippine Tzu Chi volunteers and residents of Dreamland Village, that is still going strong today. Dreamland Village near Manila was chosen as the location for Philippine Tzu Chi's 106th clinic. Volunteers brought residents free healthcare - including ophthalmologic, dental and pediatric services that they could hardly afford otherwise. A temporary housing unit was put up for the medical event, and more than 1,000 people from 256 families received aid supplies for the New Year. (21/12/2008)
