Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association

Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association was inaugurated in Taiwan in 1990.  The number of teachers joining the Association has since grown to more than 20,000.  Upholding the beliefs of ‘Life Education’ and ‘Love Education’, the teachers enthusiastically promote the teaching of Jing Si Aphorisms in schools to guide and inspire their students.  Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association with its evident success in Taiwan was later introduced in China, the United States, Southeast Asia and Australia.

In Singapore, the Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association was established in 1999.  In the early days, the teachers went on ‘root searching’ educational tours to Taiwan or attended inspirational talks by experienced educators from Taiwan and Malaysia’s Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association.  The local teachers learnt how to inspire in their students kind thoughts through lively story-telling techniques and interesting games while incorporating Jing Si Aphorisms in their daily lessons.

A good education system not only brings hope to our society but also harmonizes social order.  Hence, our present society needs many dedicated teachers to work towards this goal together.  To help in promoting Jing Si Aphorism teaching in schools, Singapore’s Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association has actively invite overseas lecturers to the center to conduct workshops, camps and sharing sessions.  It is hoped that more teachers will be inspired in their profession and instill the right values and mindset in their students.

The talk on “Jing Si Aphorism Teaching” was organized by Tzu Chi Singapore on 19 June 2006. It attracted 86 primary and secondary school teachers as well as teachers from various Buddhism classes

The talk received a warm response, with 45 teachers leaving behind their contact details after expressing keen interests in participating in future activities related to ‘Jing Si Aphorism Teaching’

Teachers from Singapore and Taiwan shared valuable experiences at the “Jing Si Aphorism Teaching’ Symposium, which has been organized annually since 1998 by Tzu Chi Singapore. The valuable sharing sessions renew the participants’ passion in teaching.

The teachers at the symposium made use of their free time to tour the exhibits on education. They also grasped the opportunity to interact with the teachers from Taiwan’s Tzu Chi Teachers’ Association.

Singapore teachers go on a ‘root-searching’ educational tour in Taiwan every year-end to learn from teachers in Taiwan on how to promote “Jing Si Aphorism Teaching’ in school.

At the end of the ‘root-searching’ tour, Master from the Jing Si Abode handed out souvenirs to the Singapore teachers, wishing every teacher a fruitful experience in putting their new knowledge into practice.
