To mark the founding of the Tzu Chi Association, Master Cheng Yen personally presides over the Medicine Buddha ceremony at the Pu Ming Temple on the 24th of the third month of the lunar calendar in 1966.
The Master and her disciples did not hold any Buddhist services for pay, nor did they go out to ask for food. They only held this service once a month when they distributed relief supplies to the poor in order to create merits for those who kindly donated their food, money, or other items.
